Mrs. Serial Killer Review: A Ghastly Attempt

Mrs serial killer review
Cast: Jacqueline Fernandez, Manoj Bajpayee, Mohit Raina, Zayn Marie, Darshan Jariwala
Director: Shirish Kunder
Rating: ⭐

In recent times, Netflix, Amazon, Voot, and Hotstar have become my best companions. Ever since the lockdown was announced and eventually extended; I have been binge-watching. I have a to-do list of web series and movies, which still lies incomplete. At present, I am hooked onto Breaking Bad which has come to its last season. Amidst that, I thought of taking a detour and landed upon Mrs. Serial Killer. Believe me, it’s the worst decision I ever made!

We all believe that “people learn from their mistakes.” However, I forgot this rule despite guilty of watching the disastrous movie Drive. Mrs. Serial Killer is one such crime that one shouldn’t be committed again and again. Guys, there is an amazing lineup of movies and web series across the streaming platforms. However, tempting this series might look from the outside, but it is utter nonsense and torturous from inside.

I am not into reviews but to save several lives, I decided to write Mrs. Serial Killer’s review. You might think what is the fuss about Mrs. Serial Killer review? You will know and for that, you have to keep reading.

Why it is not even a one-time watch?

So, the opening scene is set in the middle of a dimly-lit room which is surrounded by several medical types of equipment. And in the middle of this setup is a petrified woman talking to herself. Suddenly this petrified woman rises to attack another woman who is lying on the bed tied up! You might feel (so did I) that all this looks so very interesting. Yes, it does starts on a very promising note. And as the name goes, you start figuring out that one of them is Mrs. Serial Killer. But believe me, nothing of that sort happens.

And then enters Manoj Bajpayee with a weird hair wig. And it kept me wondering – what an amazing actor like him is doing in this ghastly setup? But let’s see keep these condolences aside and move ahead with the story.

So, minutes later we realize that the petrified woman (Jacqueline Fernandez) who attacks in the opening scene is the wife of a surgeon (Bajpayee). Further, the surgeon is accused of killing pregnant unmarried women. And to investigate this crime, a drunk cop (Mohit Raina) without any warrant just barges into the house of Mrs (Fernandez). He passes lewd comments, collects some evidence and you realize that Mrs. and the cop had a history. But before you get anymore further, the surgeon is arrested and the Mrs is making all efforts to release him from the jail.

Amidst this, enters another woman with a weird hair color who is a martial arts expert. And has bun in the oven (pregnant) and is unmarried which forms a perfect backdrop for the murder mystery. And what lies ahead – is stupidity and some weird action sequences. Debutante Zayn Marie has a couple of action sequences that are pleasing for the eyes. Apart from this, her role is only to lie on a stretcher and do some nonsensical talks.

However, the major role is played by the gaonwale (local residents) who have no work or jobs but to gather everywhere. While unraveling the mystery – they are present in groups. The girls go missing – they are present to mourn. When the court hearing starts – they are present to nod. When the cop misbehaves in a bar – they are present to beat him. I feel they are the lead actors!

Amidst this, there’s Darshan Jariwala too. He is the lawyer and gives some weird funda to Mrs. to save her husband. He could have done much better on the choice of films!

But I wonder why would Bajpayee accept a script like this? By the way, he has no presence and not many dialogues in the first half. But he has nailed it in the climax. That one-star rating is only for his acting skills. It shows how amazing he can slip into any role. Despite his acting, no one can save this sinking ship. Mohit Raina is wasted in the film and Jacqueline yet again gives the worst performance of her life.

While in this Mrs. Serial Killer review, you might be wondering – I mentioned nothing about director Shirish Kunder. I hope you have seen Jaan-E-Mann and Joker. I did not watch them but made a mistake of watching this film (Mrs. Serial Killer). Farah Khan was confident that his film will be a success, but I guess she lives in an imaginary world!

The Final Verdict

So, guys this Mrs. Serial Killer review is for those who want to save themselves. The film annihilates itself but you don’t; because this film is nothing but a waste of time!
