Yay, Holi is around the corner, and it’s time to paint your life. I know it sounds so cliché, but seriously, festivals are so much fun, especially the Holi celebration. Since childhood, Holi has been my favourite festival, and hence I am sharing some tips on having a memorable Holi celebration. So, let’s dive in.
How to celebrate Holi – Some fantastic tips on Holi celebration
Here are some simple yet excellent tips for Holi. You might know most of them, but if you miss out on anything, refer to this blog.
Gather old clothes
Holi is all about playing with colours. Your clothes are going to go to waste for sure. Instead of wearing something new, choose clothes you will not wear again. Besides, try and wear long sleeves top and full pants if you are worried about skin exposure.
Most importantly, if you love your clothes and do not wish to let them go, choose dark-coloured ones, which you may use later.
Take care of your accessories
Whether going for a grand HOLI party or a small-scale one with limited friends and family, taking care of your belongings is essential. If you are a shutterbug, ensure to carry a waterproof pouch for your phone and camera. It’s not about the water alone; the colours may harm your equipment.
Thanks to Digital India, there is no need to carry a wallet per se, but even if you do, take some extra measures to protect them.
Go for organic colours
Last year, I ordered colours from Mitti Ke rang, and this year, I opted for phool.co. The Mitti Ke Rang colours did not harm my skin nor were they toxic. Their colours were eco-friendly, and so was the packaging. However, I wanted to try some other brands and heard about phool.co a lot. I had earlier opted for hampers for my brother, and the service was top-notch. So, I thought of the colours.
Stay hydrated
It’s getting hot day by day, and you will be playing the whole day. So, ensure to carry a water bottle along. Stay hydrated and take care of your health too! Most importantly, wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from colours. Besides, carry some energy bars along, in case you need some energy boost.
Apply oil on your body
If you are going to a grand HOLI party, not necessary, they are going to use organic colours. So, to protect your skin, applying oil on your body is best. I prefer using mCaffeine’s coffee body polishing oil. Smells good, and my problem is solved by not getting any skin rash. Apply oil on hair, too but go for coconut hair oil or any other you prefer.
Relish Holi delicacies
One of the most remarkable ways for Holi celebration is to relish some traditional delicacies. There are many different traditional delicacies as per your region and culture. In Maharashtra, we make puran polis but in other states there are gujia, dahi wada, etc. Also, thandai is a highlighter in Holi celebrations but drink safely especially if you are choosing an alcoholic one.
Spend time with family and friends
Holika Dahan is a great way to have community celebrations. Many housing societies come together and celebrate Holika Dahan. In my society, too, we have a grand celebration where we dance and sing after Holika Dahan. It’s a great way to get introduced to our society members. Besides, it’s a holiday, so grab this opportunity and arrange a lovely meetup with family and friends.
Dance to the tunes of Holi songs with family
If you wish to have an intimate Holi celebration, spend time with your family. Play some fantastic Holi songs and believe me, there are abundant songs to dance your heart out. Grab this opportunity to enjoy it to the fullest. I am telling you, Holi is a complete all-day celebration package.
