I am sure everyone must have enjoyed Diwali to the fullest. And it must be getting difficult getting back to normal life. Diwali is one such festival that forces us into binge eating and lethargy. Every time the lip-smacking ladoos come in front of our eyes. We convince ourselves that Diwali comes just once in a year. Thus, wreaking havoc in our tummies. But its never too late! Now is the time to detox after Diwali. And I am sure your body is also wanting to do the same. So, here are some tips for a successful detox after Diwali.
-
Start exercising
Stomach upset and lethargy is prominent after Diwali. So, start exercising regularly. If you don’t wish to invest in gyms then start light exercises. A brisk walk, yoga, swimming or even jogging can help you abundantly. Also, choose the stairs at the office or home instead of an elevator. It will also help you burn those extra calories. Moreover, if you like to put on your dancing shoes, then just do it. Moving around is a perfect detox after Diwali to loosen up that lethargy.
-
Eat healthily
Ladoos, chakli, karanji, chiwada are irresistible. But your top priority is after Diwali is to eat healthy food. Try avoiding junk food, street food, and restaurant food. Besides, try to avoid oily, processed, and fried food. Cut down your sugar intake because you had enough during Diwali. If you have any leftover sweets then don’t fall prey to their palatability. Instead chose fruit over sweet. Also, have healthy salads for a perfect detox after Diwali. Furthermore, try adding green and leafy vegetables to your post-Diwali detox diet. They will give you energy to battle lethargy after Diwali.
TIP: While cooking, try and choose a healthy oil. You may cook in mustard oil, desi ghee or even olive oil.
-
Drink more water
Start your day with lemon water. This magical water eliminates unwanted toxins and sugar from the system. Thus, helping immensely for weight loss. Also, if you have indigestion or heartburn, then it will give you relief. Besides, try and stay hydrated throughout the day. Stick to a count of 8 glasses of water in a day. Besides, you can prepare detox water by adding mint, cucumber, and lemon in water.
TIP: You can download an app called ‘water minder’. It helps to have a tab on your water drinking habits. It gives you regular updates when and how much water to drink. And all this is done based on your weight, height, and age.
-
Eat carefully
As I said Diwali = binge eating. So, you should be watchful while maintaining your post-Diwali detox diet. And so, it’s important to maintain regular intervals between food. Also, if you are hungry in between, then choose healthy foods. Fruits, nuts, chiwda are a healthy option to snack on during intervals. But do not allow cakes, biscuits or chips to overpower your craving. Also, do not pamper yourself with overeating. Try and focus while eating. And for that, avoid doing any activity while eating, like watching TV. Because, these activities will avoid you from reciprocating to your body’s signals. Thus, leading to overeating. So, eat carefully and make it a great choice for a perfect detox after Diwali.
-
Try and meet your friends
Diwali is over, and I am sure many of us are feeling blue. I know it’s natural because you have spent so many days with your loved ones. You have carved wonderful memories to cherish for a lifetime. And when it comes to an end, it leads to heartbreak. It may also lead to boredom. So, to wipe out all this negativity, you must keep in touch with your friends and family more often. Don’t withdraw yourself from life. That may give you a feeling of loneliness.
-
Take enough rest
Diwali prep starts on an advance basis. So, by the time it’s over, it leads to exhaustion. Therefore, try and grab adequate sleep. With exercising, adequate sleep is also equally important. Try and sleep for at least 7-8 hours. Because good sleep can improve your productivity and concentration. Thus, helping you to cope up with Diwali blues.
