How Teachers Influence Students' Lives

I have witnessed a teacher’s life very closely. Reason being my father – as he is serving as the Head of the Department of Medicine at the MIMER Medical college. So, I am well aware that how teachers influence students’ lives. There is a constant buzz of students around him, and I have heard innumerable stories about how he inspired them. Right from helping them clear their orals and motivating them to work harder for a bright future. He has done it all!

Truly, a teacher plays a pivotal role in our life. Along with our parents, they are the ones who shape and mold us for the betterment of our future life. However, some tend to ignore the efforts exercised by the teacher. Therefore, I decided to list some of the ways on – how teachers influence students’ lives? But before that let’s take a sneak-peek about the history of the Teachers Day celebration in India!

Importance of Teachers’ Day in India

Teachers’ Day is celebrated in India on September 05 of every year which also marks the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Dr. Radhakrishnan was a great scholar, educationist, and philosopher. Along with this, he also served as the first Vice President of India and the second President of India.

As mentioned in The Economic Times, Dr. Radhakrishnan was floored by requests from his students and friends to celebrate his birthday. After which he suggested to commemorate his birthday as Teachers’ Day!

Well, I remember celebrating Teachers’ Day with great enthusiasm when in school. Fancy dress, cultural events, gifts distribution; were a part of our grand celebration. But back then, never realized the importance of a teacher. But now I do; which is why I am going to share the same with you. So, let’s see how teachers influence students’ lives.

How teachers influence students’ lives?

1. They shape our lives

Our parents teach us the first word of our life and infuse values since childhood. But in the later stage, our life is shaped by our teachers. They try and safeguard these values and help us understand them to the core. They help us find direction in life and fill it with positivity. They help us acknowledge our strengths and weakness while helping to balance them. With this, they bring about an equilibrium in our lives, thus helping carve a secure life!

2. They impart knowledge

This is the most important role of a teacher – enriching us with vast knowledge. They try and make learning fun so that it becomes easy for students to understand complex terminologies. They engage us in activities so that we get a chance to relieve our stress. Alongside this, they plan out activities and create an exciting environment, so that every student is motivated to embrace the power of knowledge.

3. They guide us

When students are confused, then teachers are the ones who guide them. This is because teachers are completely aware of the traits of every student. Moreover, they know the strengths and weaknesses, which is why it becomes easy for them to guide through career choices. Well, it’s not about career alone, but teachers play a crucial role when it comes to handling personal life too! Because many students feel comfortable confiding in a teacher than a parent. They find a mentor in them who will help them analyze problems and find a solution.

4. They are dedicated

No matter how naughty or demotivated a student is! Teachers are a classic example of dedication. Because they never give up on their students. Rather they keep trying until they achieve success. Remember, the movie Hichki starring Rani Mukherjee who despite having Tourette syndrome, educates a group of underprivileged students. The students misbehave, make fun of her but she never gives up. She has her bout of frustration yet is thoroughly dedicated to the welfare of students.

5. They are understanding

Every student comes from a family background which is either good or worst. Furthermore, a teacher has a deep understanding of every student’s family background, culture, abilities, and difficulties. Thus, making them extremely patient while dealing with every student. They know how to make their student comfortable, further helping them to deal with their problems. Thus, making them a role model and a reason for how teachers influence students’ lives.

So, now you know how teachers influence students’ lives. But if you want some in-depth understanding, then you may watch some amazing movies. Let me list out some for you!
