I haven’t watched Veere Di Wedding yet, but even before this movie released, there have been movies that have showcased beautifully that girls don’t need boys to climb the success ladder.   I am in love with this movie because for me its one of the best women-centric films in Bollywood. I literally binge watch this movie and can relate to it as I am also looking after my elderly parent. Not just this, but Deepika’s presence in this movie is something one should not miss and above all her Bengali accent. She has mastered her acting and Amitabh and her relation looked so real throughout.

• Tumhari Sulu

  A simple housewife wherein her family is her priority. However, she gets an attractive job and how her life changes; is something you need to unravel. I still believe that no actress could have pulled off better than Vidya Balan. Her effortless acting, her beautiful voice and her rapport with her co-actors is awe-inspiring. But the surprise package amidst this is Neha Dhupia, who has acted so well with a powerhouse like Manav Kaul and Vidya. Surprisingly, she doesn’t let you down at all and so it is truly one of the best women-centric films in Bollywood!

• Secret Superstar

  Let me admit, I haven’t watched this movie in theatre. But thanks to Tata Sky’s Showcase, that I didn’t miss this masterpiece. We saw Zaira Wasim in Dangal but with this movie you can actually witness her acting prowess. And what do I say about Meher Vij – she has nailed it and she is that perfect mother who can go to any lengths for her kids. The mother-daughter relation will surely bring tears in your eyes and I am sure you will question – does Aamir Khan really exist in this movie?

  Queen gave wings to girls who were scared to take that first flight in life. This is one such woman-centric films in Bollywood that proved that no boy or no hurdle can stop you from flying. After this movie, I really wanted to go on a solo trip. Unfortunately, it is still stuck in a limbo but we’ll plan soon!

• Lipstick Under My Burkha

  This movie is really not meant for our Indian audience because they will watch it only for the sex scenes. But no one will try to contemplate what a woman goes through! All 4 women are stupendous and the director Alankrita Shrivastava has captured their nuances aesthetically. What to know what goes inside a woman’s mind – then you must watch this film and I am sure you’ll admit that it is one of the best women-centric films in Bollywood.

  When you miss such amazing movies in theatre, then you should definitely subscribe to Hotstar and Amazon Prime Video. After Raanjhanaa, Swara Bhasker has yet again proved her mettle as an actress. Her revengeful act, her nuances will really urge you to respect these performers who have to go through a hell ride sometimes.

  This film was hyped – thanks to the controversies surrounding the film. The movie was not very gripping and slow at some occasions, but Deepika enamored me with her beauty and acting. There were too many assumptions and criticism about the climax, but trust me, the Jauhar scene will surely give you goose bumps. So, this movie makes it on my list of best women-centric films in Bollywood.

  This movie was a complete dud at the box office, but Kangana’s acting is just amazing. The movie is slow at occasions, but watch this movie for Kangana. Her Gujrathi accent, love for gambling, hunt for money, no remorse about her criminal acts is something you need to watch for yourself.
