I am a complete movie junkie, so watching rather binge-watching movies is like my hobby. Everybody believes that Hollywood movies are more meaningful and Bollywood movies are masala flicks. But people are unaware that there are so many movies that are not only meaningful but impart some amazing lessons of life. Bollywood has been experimenting with so many engrossing themes, however, one such theme that has been winning hearts of young Indians is friendship. So, before giving up on your friends for any reason, without fail watch these best Bollywood films on friendship.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani
This is one of my favourite Bollywood films on friendship. Deepika and Ranbir once again prove that when they are together – it has to be a powerhouse. The shades and bonding of Kabir aka Bunny, Aditi, Naina and Avi is commendable and their friendship truly makes you jealous. This movie taught me that being alone can give you money, but friends can bring the whole world’s happiness at your feet.
Who can show off friendship better than kids? You have to watch this film if you want to unwind some beautiful childhood memories. A group of children come together to shower love towards a roadside boy and his pet dog. They strive hard to win respect for their friend and his beloved pet. Not just this, but this film is a live example of the impact kids can make on the society.
Zindagi Milegi Na Dobaara
What happens when you meet your old friends after ages? And to beat that, you go for a bachelor’s trip to Spain? What a deadly combination with fine acting by the lead characters – Kabir, Arjun and Imran. This movie unveils the beautiful nuances of friendship and life secrets that only friends can understand. This movie is truly one of the best Bollywood films on friendship.
“’A friend in need is a friend indeed”, who can portray this better than Rancho. Rancho, Raju and Farhan share the simplest yet striking relationship that’s etched in everyone’s hearts. This movie literally brings back all the college memories in a flash.
We all have our share of misunderstandings, but a life without friends feels empty. Despite their fights, this ‘Magik’ band of Joe, Adi, Rob and KD prove that friendship and their love for music can overcome all hurdles. In fact, their friendship grows stronger with each passing day and it’s a treat to watch one of the best Bollywood films on friendship!
Rang De Basanti
This movie was a rollercoaster of emotions for me. The film that starts with a joyride takes a patriotic turn and eventually brings tears in your eyes, seeing Daljit “DJ” Singh, Karan, Aslam, Sukhi and Laxman giving up their lives for friendship. If I miss this name from the list of Bollywood films on friendship, then it will be inappropriate!
Pyaar Ka Punchnama
Their girlfriends might be bitchy, demanding, but does it affect their friendship in any way? Nah! In fact it makes their bond stronger. They work together to convince their respective girlfriends, discuss problems and find a solution too. And finally, do not miss the monologue (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qy0m-4meolQ) by the great Rajjo. And yes, the sequel Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 is also worth a watch!
Queen is surely a movie of self-discovery but the beautiful friendship that Rani shares with Vijaylakshmi, Taka, Olexander and Tim is a treat to watch. These friends not only make her laugh, but also make her strong and independent. Leaving her fiancé behind and heading towards the rock show to meet her friends for the last time, adorns the connection they share!
Angry Indian Goddesses
Tagged as “India’s first buddy female pic”, this film is truly one of the best Bollywood films on friendship. The film revolves around six friends Freida, Madhurita, Pamela, Suranjana, Nargis, Joanna and Lakshmi who meet after ages to attend their best friend’s wedding. Despite differences they get along and one incident strengthens their bond deeply.
Apart from these movies, there several Bollywood films on friendship like – Sholay, Fukrey, Kai Po Che, etc. However, the above-mentioned names sum up my list. Well, do you have any personal favourite, then feel free to share in the comments!
